Piko Points

Morning
I am considering buying a couple of Piko radius 5 points. Has anyone experience of the running qualities of RH & LGB locos, IP engineering & Swift Sixteen rolling stock through these points? Are they compatible with LGB track using rail clamps? My clamps are are brass and fit below the rail and secured by screws clamping down onto the lower track profile.

They are compatible with LGB track. Your clamps will fit just fine. Piko R5 is the same as LGB R3 - about 4 ft radius.
As for running, I am sure someone will be along shortly who runs that stock.rail combination as I dont.

I can vouch for LGB, IP and Swift Sixteen stock running through these OK. LGB? Well it just works doesn't it?

I have a rake of Binnie skips with a swift Gunpowder van that I haul with an IP punch diesel. All negotiate my Piko R5's with no difficulties. I also run the Swift small 4-wheeled coach behind a scratch-built railbus, again no issues. Just for the record my Accucraft L&B, IoM and Welshpool stock go through these OK too.

Yes, the Piko points work fine with all of my rolling stock, field and full size alike. Plus they are less expensive than LGB points, at least from Wholesale Trains over here.

I run LGB locos and rolling stock through Piko R5's, no problem. They are connected to LGB track (mostly) with screw clamps--also no problem. I have added some brass shims to help my two-axle, short-wheelbase locos make it across the plastic frogs...

In general terms, all trackwork and points by Piko, LGB, Trainline45, Aristocraft, AMS etc are pretty much 100% cross-compatible, even more so if you're using clamps rather than the standard joiners.
It's only if you step down to code 250 track (like Peco) that some wheelsets may give you a few problems - stick with code 332 track from any manufacturer(s) and you should be OK.

Jon.
