Just got some of IP's nice "Dickies Decals" to add the final touch to my Brown/Cream 4 wheel and bogied coaching stock, it includes postal coaches for both types. Problem - Try as I might with Google I cannot find any images or drawings appertaining to these coaches to show e how to place the decals. Can anybody help me find this information without the need to purchase very expensive books ? I have not contacted IP yet (I suppose that might help. Picture of my built up 4 wheeler rake, bogied stock in the works. Any information would be much appreciated. Max

I'll have a look through my books over the next few days Max and see if there are any useful photos.
Mike.

I wasn’t able to find many usable photos of the older Darjeeling cars. Maybe these two will help with placement of the decals. Maybe not.

I love the train you have created.

Thank you Craig. Regrettably not the ones I am detailing. That loco and coach set live just up the road from me at the privately owned Beeches Light Railway - repatriated from the DHR.

The top shot is from my line Frank. Thanks for the comment. Max

Take a look at National Railroad Museum at Delhi website. I was there in 2000 a took some pictures, I do not know were they are now.....

Hi Max. Found a good selection of loco photos but little in the way of rolling stock and nothing in the way of the coaches you were looking for. As a last resort I have some video recordings from the telly years ago but not a clue where they might be.
Will do some digging but don't hold your breath.
Mike.

Thank you Mike. I've checked a DHR DVD I have (50 years of the DHR 30's - 80's) and there is a blink and you miss it "side on" clip taken in the '30's of a bogied coach but none of the similar mail or any 4 wheel stock of that era.

I've had a word with Ivan at IP, who replied very promptly to my e-mail with the offer for help. He has described how the decals are applied in those DHR coaches but I have no pictures to confirm (copyright issues) I have understood his verbal instructions correctly. Ivan says he is in the process of decaling up his show stock to correct this issue for all purchasers over a wide range of these producst. Whether pictures on the website will be updated, and when, remains to be seen.

It seems the only source are some very expensive out of print books or nothing. Very frustrating for what apears to be a very popular theme for NG model railway enthusiasts in a number of scales. Max

Here are some pictures of the 4 wheel stock I have decaled up. Thanks to information from IP and Paul

However I now have a small problem. See if you can spot what might be a deliberate mistake

Yes, it would appear the bogie stock, as supplied, is 5 compartment not 4 as in all the picture information that has very kindly been made available. Not only that but those open spaces, it would appear, should have doors in them where the "Class #'s" may be located. I do have a picture of this 5 compartment stock but information for decal placement is indecernable. It's very difficult if a maker sells product and cannot provide any pictoral information as they are to be applied. Max

Interesting, there is 5 compartment stock - built in 1929 and 1937 but only 5 coaches. The doors are open in many pictures of all door fitted stock so it might be IP worked from basic drawings and photos and assumed there were no doors. Probably not many photos in rainy season ;)
I'm searching for pics in the books so will see what turns up, only one so far is too distant to see any lettering.
