You sort-of need to know what you are looking for..

If you know there is a GR in a certain street, you can sometimes make a guess which property it is, but it would be no good trying to find local GR enthusiasts this way!
??? ;)

Now when you get up to 7 1/4, then it becomes a little easier!

REALLY ???

7-1/4" Gauge is dead easy, I found one just yesterday, in Cape Town. They stick out like a thumb with a bandage on. Depending on the closeness to the ground of the sat. picture (it varies a lot) G scale is quite possible to spot, though this new "Bird's eye" view that you get on some, makes life difficult again in some cases. Also, most of the shots are around two years old, some places a lot older than that.

Perhaps my 19" desk-top screen assists some as well. 8) ;) ;D

Remember those spy helicopters that were a topic here a few weeks ago ??????

Very handy if you can overlay contour lines...Using those you can trace long extinct railways etc....

Yep, am sure the spy run was done this summer - friend produced the latest pic of the back garden and noted that it showed what little work I had done on the railway late spring/early summer.

Also looking at the shadow of the chimney stack (of the house!!) on the roof of the house the spy run was done early afternoon.....

Bottom left corner of the images (usually) gives the date that it was taken. I'm also able to look at archive of previous images. Checked mine earlier, this summer's hard work is shown, as well as my ar*e pointing upwards as I was doing some work under the bonnet of the car :o

From the look of what else was in the garden and the car, off shot, it was July and late afternoon by the shadows

Blimey. Lucky that the K&NWR is in the cellar.
