No earth works are due yet Jason, but plenty of photos will be posted of running sessions. The owning authority hasnt yet sanctioned major 'improvements' to the garden, but planning applications are being considered. As the last two days have been shelf building only a limited tram service was in operation. ( More photos of the trams plus assorted other stuff can be found on the 'Locomotives and Trams' section under Raglan Hall's tramcar trailer )
One advantage of having temporary track is the ability to make radical changes. The Tram and Shunter depot has been re-located and at 90 degrees to its original position. It is seen here with the 'Stainz-fest' which perform most shunting duties.
Track cleaning duties today fell to the 'Mighty Mo'. With the extra trackage now in use a proper LGB Track Cleaning Loco is becoming a required aquisition in the near future.
Just a couple of photos from todays running. The GP9s were out n a passenger run. Before anyone mentions the fact they are the 'wrong' way round, I know, it was because of a coupling fault ( they have KDs at one end and hook and loop at the other for emergencies...like today )
Hi Syd
Don't I recognise some Baltimore and Ohio streamliner livery changes in one of your pics?
The state of the grass, like all of ours in the arid east, makes the temporary nature seem to fade away especially on the long American stuff.
It is good to see that you have a new base for all of your stock as well. Maybe you need to pop over to augment it further!
Little and Large Hopper trains. Great Northern GP9 on the short hoppers whilst reversed livery BNSF GP38 and SD40 toil with a much longer rake of centreflows. Thats the lot for now.
Well having a temp layout can be fun as just as you say it be changed on a whim and also it looks like the grass area is large and flat so everything runs well as it is.
