Open Day on the Somerville & St Francis River RR

USA standard gauge in the late 1960's, in 1:29th.
Hi everyone,

It's been a very long time since I posted anything up here as I've been working abroad and haven't had much time for train activities, but I just wanted to share some pictures of our open day now that things are back up and running. The Scottish weather did its best to thwart our efforts today, but all in all it was a great success.

After having it sit on our workbench for far too long, I finally got round to finishing up all the mods and details to our Cotton Belt GP40 and got it out running. The visiting BN hoppers in tow are a little too modern for our late 60's based railroad but are very nice new models from AML that were run for a good friend.

The fuel dealer/depot was refreshed with a new concrete foundation and some more details, but still needs a little more weathering to tone it down and help blend it in. Unfortunately the weather has been so miserable up here of late that its been nearly impossible to leave our trains shed/workshop!

Thanks for looking!

Fantastic photo's Gavin  Nice to see some more pics of Your Railroad which is looking great

I always enjoy your pictures, your weathering of locomotives is superb too :thumbup:

Great pics, loads of interest, what a great line. A sylvan setting belies the fact that it's not a summer's day - really nice.

Great looking railroad Gavin.

Thanks for the kind comments guys! Here are a few more. The last couple of photos show the new low relief buildings in the sawmill complex. They're still waiting to have windows added and other details.
