Old line. New start

Hello. It has been a loooooooong time since I last posted anything here but I am glad to be back. Have I missed anything?

So. I have decided to rejuvenate my line this spring/summer. Why?  Well 18 months ago I lost my mam. She loved my railway in her garden and it was her that encouraged me to build it. I think it was just an excuse to buy more plants and go to the garden centre but it was a good team effort. Sadly it has fallen into disrepair and looks very tatty and unkept. So not only am I building a railway I am also keeping my mams garden in decent shape (if I can get anywhere near how nice she had it I will be pleased).

So these photos are of my progress to date. The line is one large loop with a smaller inner loop so 2 trains can run at any time.  The station is double line next to the patio and the kitchen looks out onto it.

Part of the single line, you will notice, still needs the track bed sorted. This will be phase 2. I will leave the gap as a lift out section/bridge For access to the grass in the middle.

If you have any questions then please feel free to ask.

I will try and find my old photos when the line was running.

Thanks

Nice tribute to your Mam Andy....

Great to see an old railway coming back to life, looking forward to seeing more piccys as it progresses.

:Dwelcome home andy

Nice job all round, going to keep you out of mischief for a few months! ;)

Thank you all for commenting. Hopefully keeping this up to date will inspire me further to keep going. It's going to be a long haul but then when is a railway really finished?

Well today has been a good day. Sun was out and i thought it was time to bite the bullet and start lifting the old trackbed in prep for the new as the new track arrived last week.

Lots to do but at least some of it can be left and not all of it to be replaced.

I did manage to get a loco running too.

With my nutter border collie keeping watch!

Looking good Andy. Is that the latest version of the (Marklin) Nicki & Frank S you have running in the last few photos? If it is,are you running analogue or digital? I only changed the address on mine from the factory default of 3 to 10 using my universal handset (LGB) and everything went to pot! Purchased a SPROG to have another go and it doesn't recognise the decoders Marklin have fitted! However, all is not lost as Mark (Muns) of this forum now has it in his possession and will try to resolve my problem.

No its an old version of Nicki & Frank S. It is also analogue so i am afraid i can not help you with any problems but it sounds like you may have it all in hand any ways.
