OcCre Model Decals

I know a number of you on hear have built OcCre Model kits, mainly trams. Assuming the models have been completed and the decals (for want of a better term) have been applied, have you applied any lacquer, varnish or other clear sealant to them. For those of you with experience can you answer a few questions:

1. If you left your model without a sealant, how did fair, i.e. have the decals remained in place.
2. If you did seal your decals a couple more questions:
   1. What base coat paint did you use
   2. What lacquer, varnish did you use, product and brand.
   3. What finish did you use (matt, satin, gloss or another).
   4. How has the model reacted to the seal coat.
