Some more progress on the GWRR.
This time the tunnel is nearly complete.
All the slabs (but one) are in place, ready to be covered with earth.
The slabs themselves are 400mm el cheapo B&Q, cut down as required.
Cutting is fairly straightforward with an angle grinder, provided you only cut facing down wind.
Here is the structure waiting for the final top slab to be cut to size.
The earth is in a big pile on the right, ready to be shovelled back over it -

Thanks for the kind words!
Yes, an opening day is planned for this summer.
Just got to lay the remaining 200 feet of track to complete the circuit.
This bit I've just done was the difficult part, the rest is on the lawn.
Here's the missing picture from above -

EDIT : Funny, the picture shows up in the edit window OK, but not in the post.
Here it is attached instead -

Dead smart! It looks very modern, as if it should have an ICE/TGV type train whooshing through rather than a Stainz (not knocking the Stainz :D ).
About angle-grinding downwind, did no one ever warn you about the baked beans?

Hi, For some reason & I suspect that the ID of the photo is at fault, somewhere along the line it has gained some characters in the ID and they cannot be deleted - so here is the photo (I hope!)

The photo belongs to Hamish, and he sent me a copy to include.

Yours Peter.

A very fine job Hamish  Looking at the pic with the USAT caboose there doesn't seem to be much clearance on the tunnal walls have you tried your Accacraft 1:20.3 C19 for width clearance would hate to think it wouldn't fit

Hi Richie,
I've allowed 3.5" 90mm clearance from track centres, so she should just fit OK.
Accucraft reckon the max width is 6"...

The top or bottom half?

As for height, Accucraft quote 8", I've allowed 10".
When the rain stops, I'll take the beast (C19) out to the tunnel and take some snaps.
EDIT: The rain has stopped, so here's a snap.
The C19 does fit, now who will lend me a K37 to try?

Dave, thanks for the kind words!

Actually I only work at temps above 4C, even then with frequent re-warming breaks!
The other limiting factor is the thick sticky clay, so no wet working either.

We have had quite a few nice days over winter, so work has continued steadily.
