Hi guys, so carrying on from the loco's and trams section, I've got to new loco's that seem to be possibly chipped. Mr Whatlep has kindly offered to help but was wondering if there's anyone more local to me? I'm based in Coventry but will be driving to Bristol this sat. Is there anyone that can test my 2 loco's on DCC for me in or near Cov/Bristol or anywhere inbetween?

:)

Andy your not far from me

Hi Steve, are you DCC then? I know it was a while back when i visited you last...
Steve is DDC now Andy....

Mine is DCC but i don't think i have the ability to change CV`s ect and if i do i would not have a clue how.

Steve, you should be able to update CVs with your kit but reading them in the first place might not be possible. Thats the way mine works anyway - but software upgrades do change these things so you might be at a newer level than mine.

Andy dont ask this bunch of monkeys that :rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf:

As I'm not fully up to speed with this DCC stuff (as i thought I'd purchased analogue) would visiting Steve be a worth while trip to test my 2 loco's?

Resisting the golden chance to be rude to Steve, you'd be able to see if the locos move on DCC IF you know what ID each loco is (you could work sequentially from 1-23). Steve can change the CVs using his system, but if he isn't confident about doing that you'd still need to go somewhere else to reset CV29 if it turns out that you can get movement on DCC but not on analogue. 'Tis up to you. You're still welcome to wander over here.

By the way, before doing any testing, make sure that loose track feed is either soldered back onto the tag or covered in insulating tape to ensure it can't touch anything else.

Andy,
Should you opt for a visit to Steve it's not impossible for me to gatecrash.
I have an interface and programmer that I've used on occasion to[strike] muck up[/strike] adjust some of Steve's CVs whilst visiting him. I've also used it with an ESU chip to do some basic work. However to do more advanced ESU programming a more advanced programmer is required. If I recall almost any programmer can perform a full factory reset on an ESU sound chip, but doing so wipes the sound and you need an ESU programmer to get the sound back!

I agree with Watlep , be rude to him not me

Steve, I've tried to reply but the pm thingy has crashed... I'd like to pop over about 4pm tomorrow if thats ok. If you could remind me off your address via pm please :)

Neil that would be really helpful if thats ok with Steve.

Steve - not sure whats goin on with the pm system but yes its fine to let me know tomorrow once you know what your doing. I'm around pretty much all of tomorrow and until early afternoon on sat :)

FWIW I'm committed elsewhere this weekend from noon on Friday onwards.
No, not under the mental health act, I'm at Midland Railex with the East Midlands Group of the GSS on Friday and Saturday and out with SWMO on Sunday until early evening.
