I have had the luck to have a "Willi" on loan(Thanks Neil) for a month or so to evaluate it for my needs. It's a very impressive engine.

Well, I spent three hours yesterday trying to get "Willi" to run.
I managed to get her lit once but then nada. So last night she was taken to Neil Robinson for some expert care. Hopefully she will be in steam this weekend.

Pleased to here your now able to play with your Willi

Sadly things have gone from bad to worse. First steam up went well, locomotive ran for about 10 minutes gas went out. Second steam up, gas filled up, water topped up, then water observed coming out of the burner. A third of water came out within a couple of minutes. No idea what is going on.

Are you sure it's coming from the burner?if it is it sounds like a leaky crosstube.Did you buy it new?

Sounds like a leaking Willi then...........

(OK, you can think it, but don't say it!)

Absolutely sure.

Locomotive is new. I picked it up from the dealer on Thursday. It's going back when he comes back off holiday.

Hi!

Yes, it seems that there´s a big leak in the crosstube.

Having 2 Regners in the past and lots of friends having Regners too I have never recognized such an issue.
Maybe a broker solder joint?

Good luck to get a new one which will then run perfectly.

best regards
Klaus

I've not come across it before either. I'm not too bothered, the locomotive was picked up new last Thursday, I will return it to the dealer and get either a replacement or full refund.

Well, "Willi" was returned to the dealer yesterday. I'm now waiting for a replacement. None appear to be available at the dealer or main agent. I do have a "Chaloner" on order which should arrive at the dealers today. I will pick it up tomorrow and have it in steam at the weekend.

Well, I had a trip over to the dealers today to pick up a Regner "Chaloner". This time we did a predelivery check and found 3 wheels loose and out of gauge, also 1 drive gear loose. After tightening and regauging "Chaloner" was oiled, gassed and watered.
She was then placed on the rolling road, lit and left to build up steam.
Once steam was up she was allowed to run in both directions for 30 minutes each way. So far so good. No other problems.
After the runs she was allowed to cool down. Once cool any spare water and oil was removed. Another inspection found everything tight and in place.
A further steam up will be carried out tomorrow.
