Yes JonD great fun too....now have 4 units running on Piko drives 0-4-0 and 0-6-0.......Have landed these piko units from UK (less tax) and economical freight...........Have one more Bach engine that I manage to keep staggering around and will probably rehash it in the new year....Regards, Mardy.........

I like it alot. Nice work.

Pic_1214_175.jpg Pic_1217_314.jpg Pic_1217_313.jpg These are my work horses...line up will give a bit of an idea of lay-out...just make out some other hosses to the left in the paddock........cottage deck around four sides plenty of shelter and still outside.....actually have 3&1/2 acres to play around ...am thinking about a line around the lake............thanks all and Compliments of the Season to all............Mardy.

Very nice and yours looks a great layout JonD.....always fascinated with Japanese shrines etc having spent time there during the Korean war years......have built several over the years ......this one is in the spillway of the lake and when we have rain and overflow it really looks good............Just had a 1/2 hour train run as the lights add to the Xmas lighting around the cottage......and now while you folk are good morning everybody I'm going to shower and say good night all...............Mardy .

I like the Li'l Hauler conversion!

It worked out better than expected...the plastic parts of both Li'l Haulers is good and this one will now haul another couple of coaches... the motors, contacts and metal wheels are utter rubbish and having dismantled this one I can measure up and see if I can fit a Piko O-4-O unit. ...............Mardy

Yes - post the results please if you would - I have one that I bashed and the tender one (like yours) - both are laid up pending sorting out electrical pick-up! Shame really. I have a Playmobil tender that I was saving for a loco build or a power unit to replace the B'mann one.

Mardy, that is a superb roster of motive power. Truly what I think of as garden railway equipment.

Thanks Dan...it takes a Madman to know another one...........just ordered another motor unit for the next hatchet job on the remainder of the Li'l Hauler engine.........see next post shortly for Trammayo in reply to his last post.....Regards ...Mardy

Hi there Mick (Trammayo)........have spent the morn playing with Li'l H motor.........wasted.......it, together with wheels now reposes at the bottom of garbage bin............I have a tentative plan of operation...I have had good results with Piko units.so have ordered next one (0-6-0 ).....they are all rather large and to fit I will remove middle section of chassis and join with two aluminium strips to fit motor unit........boiler /fire unit will still fit with adjustment and cab unit from other Li'l freighter will be adjusted to fit............New Year by the time motor unit arrives so will have plenty of time for more ideas.......

Thanks for your reply - I look forward to your conversion job!

I bashed mine into a contractor's type loco. If I'd known then just how bad it would be in operation I would have installed another chassis!
My Tender Lil Hauler needs improving too!

I think they are nice looking units.....grossly under-powererd...very poor power contact (these contacts can actually nestle under the lip of axle bearing....need to shape ends away from edge....though still not efficient) .....I have started the bash anyway using a motor from another engine meantime........lengthening unit enables adding coal bin to chassis.......will add pic when new chassis is assembled......had a busy morning but will get back to it pm.........man to fix sewerage pump 0715........house keeping lady 0730......man to attend electronic organ adjustments 0900.......roll on lunch...Mardy.

I think the 0-6-0 chassis really suits it.

The use by date is only advisory - ignore it!

Now signing out - I'm off for some pre-breccy meds (wish I had one for insomnia)!

Ready to roll......requires a little bit of titivating but runs very smoothly.......carries about 6oz ballast.......with 12 oz she will pull 6 carriages upt he gradients on my track.....this is half of No.1 and half of No.11 still have parts of 11 to has about with.......Mardy
