New addition to JG Line fleet

LGB 20851 Mallet Steam Locomotive at JG Line

I already have Massoth sound decoder with Mallet sound profile - just waiting for speaker that i failed to order.

So light restoration, service and digitalisation will be done at some point.

My largest loco, and a favourite.

I ran it recently at 3CAG where I originally brought it 2 or 3 years ago....

nice one! i assume converted to DCC? anything i need to be aware? not first conversion for me, but first 2 motor engine. I purchase eMotion XL S - should be enough for 2 motors i think.
It was converted to DCC, before I brought it.

Sorry but can't help....

I think I'll follow my standard approach: complete disassembly, clean and re-grease, will amputate any PCB it may have, isolate motors from pickups and just install a decoder. my only worry is 2 motors, but in theory nothing can go too wrong. looking to a body size - surely both decoder and speaker can be fit easily.

I put a Massoth XL in mine myself, plenty of room inside you could feed the existing circuitry direct from the chip. Most importanrt part if you do away with the existing circuit board is to remember to check out the running before you put the lid back on. With mine the motor wires were joined mixed colours to each terminal as the bogies are reversed each end. Same with the pick-up, but make sure that the pickup each side is matched before you power up as you could easily create a short. Less of a problem on the motor bogies as they will turn opposite ways if you get it wrong.
