Never ending snow

Shawn

Hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing
After getting more snow today and sleet/freezing rain for tonight through tomorrow and now maybe another storm for the weekend. This weather is never going to end. The crew on the KMRR is determined. They have been keeping up on the plowing although logging operations have been suspended until the ice between the rails melt and the camp gets dug out. Average of 20 inches on the ground and drifts 4+ feet high.

The bottom right is the tip of my windmill. Mr Russells place is just to the left.

Snow is a 1/4 of the way up the fire tower. Good thing I covered the tunnel.

My heart goes out to you, I hated the 3 weeks or so we had lying snow around here. Cabin fever a terrible thing. Keep your chin up shawn, it cannot last for ever. I hope.
Cheers Garry

Shawn At least you have some snowshoes.

Shawn, you are way too dedicated. I havn't even thought about running any trains since December. Even then it was too cold, let alone snow.

Yuk! Snow is fine on Christmas cards and other peoples holiday photo's.

I am always amazed at how you are able to cope with all the snow and cold weather, year in, year out

Believe me Simon, It gets more difficult with each passing year. :crying:

Spoke to my son in Connecticut last evening - he was surrounded by his children on yet another 'snow day' - we don't realise how lucky we are in the UK........ also thinking about those down under in the Queensland area of Oz :nail:

Best of luck with the snow shovel!

Regards
Rob

Thanks guys. The only way I survive this is I enjoy snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Everything looks so different when covered in a blanket of snow. In climates like this you need a hobby especially one that gets you outside.

Cyclones, floods, bushfires and drought. It has been interesting the past few years.
We were lucky on the Gold Coast area of Queensland to miss out on the floods that hit Toowoomba and Brisbane.

I'm surprised you can even get out of your house Shawn with that snow you wouldn't even know you had a garden railroad :nail:

LOL The road department is very good with the roads in my area. Snow is common for us although not this much in such a short period. As soon as the snow stopes, roads are wet within an hour from the plow and salt trucks. There is never a need to hit the store before a storm because you know roads will be fine after the storm and even during a storm there not bad with 4 wheel drive. We average about 65 inches of snow a year. The record for my area is 122 inches back in 95-96 season. The only way around my yard is paths that we shoveled or I throw the snowshoes on. Im ready for spring and flowers.

I just checked my forcast for the weekend and this came up. I just finished the last of the shoveling. Im running out of room.
