Need Help-want To Add Volume Control To Lgb Sound Car

Hi all,

I have several LGB sound cars, but they are versions that have a fixed sound volume on the board. Does anyone know how I can add a volume control?

On board potentiometer?, can be replaced with an external potentiometer of the same value, and mounted where it would be accessible.

No on board volume control?, connect the speaker wires to a simple audio amp based on an LM386 IC, link gives further information or use Google for further references.

Thanks for the quick reply, Arthur. I'm not an electronics expert, however can build the circuit. Because I'm using the sound cars for my inside home layout, my need is not to increase the sound level, rather to decrease the sound level. Will the indicated circuits also permit sound reduction to very low levels?

Hmm!, never thought about it as in lowering the volume, should work though as the output from the LGB board is being diverted via the LM386 IC, by changing the values of the components, the "gain" could be decreased.
