This will be a record of the development of my G scale railway, the EALR but in answer to a few requests, I'm also putting on here to start with a few of my Railway paintings for those that have kindly asked to see some.

There are many others, many that I don't have photos of and some are on my other computer but these will at least give you an idea how I waste my time ....

Now there's some talent mate! great pictures. I hope you don't mind but that last one is now my screen background!! I'll swap you a bumper for it!!!!!!!!

And of course the EALR, The East Appledore Light Railway, my small garden railway where it is my intention that everything from locos and rolling stock to lineside buildings and features will eventually be scratch-built or kit mangled.

Here we have the line's first kit-mangled Peckett on LGB toytrain chassis standing at Bloody Corner station with a scratchbuilt ventilated wagon used for hauling fish from the quay for the local fish wholesaler.

Very nice work! I've been trying to guess the location of this one. First thoughht was Bideford but I think the bridge there is different, and besides that looks like a GWR van and not something from the narrow gauge line that ran along the quayside, so ...............Looe?

Hi Giles and thanks... Actually you are right with your first guess but it's the other side of the river at East-The-Water where The Kathleen and May has had a permanent mooring for a while now. The van is a bit of an anomaly as I think they borrowed it for a while from The Bideford group as it's no longer there. It's a shame as between Bideford Station, Instow Signal Box and this site, they only own about a hundred yards of track between them, in the three locations..... Unfortunately I also think the council also has plans to re-develop the site in the painting. :crying: At least we still have the Tarka Railway Line that runs from Barnstaple to Exeter with regular services and that's a lovely hours run.

Serious talent there Mike

Thanks for posting those Michael, Brilliant, its pushing me to go GWR on the 00

I also have a request from my wife as to whether you have a catalogue?? This was as a result of her seeing the card you sent me, and the Pic you emailed on Saturday

Fantastic stuff Mike.... I've always admired those who have the skill to paint technical stuff like Loco's etc. As an artist myself I'm fine with my main subject which is wildlife/ birds in particular, but when it comes to straight lines and wheels I cannot crack it:D What's your favorite medium? Looks like Oil or Acrylic?

As for the EALR I much admired it on the old forum and its nice to see its still as nice! Just bookmarked the Blog..... (as a fellow sufferer of what has been diagnosed as might be ME/CF its nice to see things up and running again on the EALR!).

I may have to take you up on that if my coachbuilders have trouble finding one, otherwise I'm always open to offers of filthy lucre.
