I used one of my Stainz locos as a base for my 7/8th scale. I made a new cab out of plasticard plus a Dr Who figure as a driver, which I completely remodelled with a new hat. A new smoke stack was turned out using aluminium. A Massoth S sound unit was used with a pulse generator fitted in the gearbox and a loudspeaker fitted in the fire box. The R/C is a Deltang Rx65-2 with two optocouplers for bell and whistle. I programmed the S sound unit with a 8210014 field steam loco sound, the long whistle is superb. The 12 AA batteries are fitted in the first wagon and connects to the lighting socket on the back of the Stainz loco for the power feed. The wagons are made from two LGB wagons and the tops are from the LGB42430 normal LGB tipper trucks and the chassis and small wheels are from the LGB Feldbahn LGB49190 range. I used a Spektrum 6i transmitter as my club track is 500 feet long and at one section is behind bushes and trees and therefore goes out of sight and range of the normal park transmitters that lose their signal.
