my last loco to chip

p.williams

staying alive
The loco was bought, many years ago and is basically a block of car body filler sat above a playmobile block and based on a George England 'prince'
As it has no provision for lights or smoke, using a chip with these options will be wasted.
Is there a basic chip, that is powerfull enough to just control the motor (no accessories) on the market ?
If so, where,please?

I used TCS T1 Decoders in two of my Playmobil locos. The decoder fits in one end of the block by removing part of the weight.

Here's a thread about fitting one in my maintenance diesel loco:

http://www.gscalecentral.net/tm?m=52103

Current price for the T1 is less than £20 from http://www.digitrains.co.uk. < Link To www.digitrains.co.uk I think I had to buy the wiring harness separately, though it looks like there are now other T1 variants - some having a harness supplied eg. T1PLH - from £20 upward.

In other small locos I've used slightly more expensive "high power" HO scale decoders (2 amp continuous) from Zimo and CT Elektronik etc.

Many thanks to all for help- finally sorted 'Emma - fitted as per nick's instructions
Bought the dc25 chip from hattons- £11.00 +,postage
And identical to the t1

Yay! Glad you found my notes useful.
