And then today, we finally got some gravel and membrane down in the area where the railway will actually start to take shape.

It's so nice to know I'm not the only one to have a bombsite. Go on, race you to the finish

The big pile of soil behind the waterfall is actually going to have a tunnel straight through it, and the line will then go straight across the pond.

If all goes to plan, I should have some track down tomorrow (but then ive said that before!)

haha yer on. Its looking at bit tidier now, or at least the top third of the garden nearest the house is. The rest of it will get done in sections when time and funds allow. On the plus side, swmbo has given me carte blanche to put railway wherever I want

And what did you do to get that concession ;);););) nudge, nudge; wink, wink; so no more!

Come on don't be shy, don't keep it a secret - there are many members out there who would [strike]kill [/strike]grovel for their SWMBO to say those wonderful words. &:

Oddly it wasnt that much of a battle at all. Neither of us are green fingered, and our garden was, quite frankly, a bit like Steptoes yard. As long as there is somewhere for her to sit, have friends round for a barbie etc etc, shes quite happy.

How lucky am I!

Yay! There be trains in this 'ere yard. Got up this afternoon, watched a bit o snooker, then I thought id go lay some track.
Dug it out the shed, threw it down, plugged it in...and result! It all worked.

Ok...so its a circle. For now. After the time and effort thats gone into this so far though, there is nothing can wipe the smile off my face after sitting watching a few trains go round and round.

Ace. Can you tell im rather chuffed (no pun intended).

Learnt a few things today too. Firstly be a lot more careful when digging a piece of track out of the weeds that you left there last year. I now have one piece of Aristo 10' dia curve thats got a big kink in it, and is out of gauge. Darnit. The Bachmann stuff goes over it fine, but the LGB stuff has a tantrum and comes off the road into the kitty litter.

Secondly, I learnt that aristo and bachmann knuckle couplers dont see eye to eye. Probably going to replace them with hook and loops in time.

Oh and the Bachmann Annie i bought through GSC classifieds last week works a treat and looks luvvverly.

Happy bunny. Its a start, right? Little acorns n all that

Good to see track down!

Its temporary, but itll get moved around and grow as bits of the garden get finished.

Bachmann and Aristo couplers will mate, but only if you close them first, then slot the Bachmann one down into the Aristo one.
Alternatively replace the Aristos with Bachmanns.

Ahh I didnt actually try that. Handy to know. Thanks :)
