The eBay advertising header which appears at the top of some pages occasionally highlights one of my listings........... a Heljan Class 26 @ £499.95 trouble is that listing finished successfully some time ago, the loco now living in Cornwall having a great time hauling 14 coach trains on a rather large 0 gauge layout!!

I notice that things I look at elsewhere suddenly appear on here! There's no such thing as privacy on the internet is there?

Good evening all,

Whilst we are on the subject eBay and bargains, I spotted two diesel locos on there, one is the German shunter V 60 or 260 in my days and the other runs under V 52. ( Both from LGB I believe )
The V 52 could be a narrow gauge loco as the real one is a 1 meter gauge track but how good are they and which would fit better with 1:22.5 scale ? The V 52 seems to creep up in prize steadily, there the V 60 is analogue, but that bothers me not too much. Could I ask for some advice please, baring in mind that I have just a small budget.
Many thanks

Hello Lutz (and welcome to the forum, by the way!) - I think you will find that the V60 is actually a Piko model, but the V52 is LGB. Piko locos usually fetch less money than LGB, they are considerably cheaper even when brand-new.
The Piko V60 is, as you know, a model of a standard-gauge loco - I think Piko model them to around 1/26 scale which is not really accurate for either standard OR narrow gauge, but kind of "looks right".

The LGB V52 has been made for many, many years now in several different versions - they are very good and reliable locos, excellent runners and look good hauling either passenger or goods stock. If it is one of the versions with DCC and sound, then it may well fetch a reasonably high price in the end.

Personally, if it came down to a choice between the two then I'd go for the V52 - but the V60 may well sell for a lower price, so if your budget is tight then that would still give you a very nice loco.

Jon.

Just reverting to the title of the thread (only for a moment) - was at my son's home yesterday. He asked me if I'd bought the PWM speed controller (another thread) off ebay.

"How do you know about that?" I asked. Easy dad - I see everything you look at on ebay!

Good job my medication (ten times stronger than Bromide) makes me less likely to look at something SWMBO would dissaprove of:rofl:

Good evening all ,

Thanks for the welcome to the forum, I just come back from work. I discovered that the V 52 has gone for a pretty solid price, more I could afford, sadly so that leaves me with the option of the V 260 which would serve me well.
If it looks cheap , I will enhance it with a bit of paint, just like i did my BR 80 and that makes a great difference !
Yes, it is strange how people know what others are looking and buying on eBay. I have noticed it many times that are also the same bidders turn up and bump up the price of the item, or they must have a fair stag of the same carriages at home and an absolutely massive layout to store all their rolling stock!!!
There are still some chances to find a bargain here and there but not as many as they use to.
Have a good week!

Hi Lutz - I think my son is keeping an eye on how much of his inheritence I'm spending! And welcome - you have a good week too.
