Multiple Dimax Navigators with LGB MTS 3

Has anyone run more than one Dimax Navigator with an LGB MTS 3 station?

The central station itself only has the one socket. However, it will run 8 LGB controllers (in theory) but doesn't have 8 sockets. On a wireless basis then more than one Navigator could use a wireless receiver.

It is possible (I'm sure Mike has experience of this).

You can add additional Dimax bus or LGB bus ports with the use of the 8138001 Dimax Adapter (http://www.gardenrailoutlet.co.uk/p/79/massoth-dimax-adapter ) - it will work with either (plug it into the Dimax port to add 5 Dimax ports, likewise, to add 5 LGB ports plug it into a LGB port).
 
i am, i did, but it was wireless.....it seemed the best posssale way, done in the best possable taste:bigsmile:
 
Interesting, as the LGB 55005 MTS 2 that I have, has 4 LGB Bus sockets.

I have a cable for a Universal/Loco Remote plugged into one port, another has the LGB 55055 Wireless Receiver plugged in, the next has a LGB 55060 MTS PC Interface and the last one has an extension cable and connector for another wired Remote.

I run both a Universal and a Loco Remote, usually by wireless, but with cable as backup (should the batteries run down) using MTS 2. This equipment is more than adequate for my needs.

I see from the Champex-Linden website that the MTS 3 has 3 LGB bus ports and a Dimax socket for the Massoth Navigator....

Yes, the MTS 2 will not work with the Naviagator. Thus only has LGB bus sockets. The MTS 3 has a 3 LGB and one Dimax. Running wirelessly then only the one receiver needs to be plugged into the MTS 3. What I didn't know was the processing power of the central station and if that could handle multiple navigators. I was wandering about visiting firemen on open days (with a number of us new to DCC there's talk of a small open day to share DCC experience and knowledge), one of which could well bring his own Navigator with loco. Somebody else locally has gone down the PIKO DCC route and in the fullness of time we will see if the PIKO navigator works via the Dimax receiver with the MTS 3. Need to do a bit of research to see how closely related the PIKO and Dimax Navigator are.

The Massoth Dimax software can cope with up to 8 Navigators operating wirelessly or up to 30 components via the Dimax bus, but I've never seen any definitive information on limits for the LGB 55006. I assume that there isn't any problem operating multiple Navigators with a 55006 as it can certainly run multiple LGB handsets both wired and wireless and a mix of LGB and Massoth simultaneously - I've done/ am doing both. If you're using more than one Navigator wirelessly, the manual indicates that each one after the first has to be allocated a different ID number. Others will know more about that than me.

The published info for the Piko kit shows it using exactly the same frequencies as the Massoth kit and it is known to be produced by Massoth. I'd be amazed if it isn't a "drop-in" replacement for the Massoth Navigator in terms of software, though there doesn't seem to be much price incetive to go the Piko handset route: the main attraction for the Piko option IMHO is the cheaper central station.

Edit - I shall ask the question about multiple Navigators on an LGB 55006 via Massoth's forum.
 
I run two massoth navigators wireless with the massoth receiver connected to my LGB 55006 with no issues at all.
