Moving to the dark side.

Retired, but still hoarding. (GOF)

My long-awaited cull has finally started. My 150+ analog locos have been joined by three already chipped companions over the last twelve months. I've managed to dispose of some surplus stock to commence decoder purchases for those engines that will remain in the slimmed down fleet. My Piko BR218 has just been out shopped with 2 LGB 55021s fitted by my own fair hand and a 65003 sound unit. OK I know it's American but I can live with the long horn blasts (and more importantly it was only thirty quid). Have just uploaded a video to YouTube (Hemsby Valley Railway 12,). Am now in the process of tackling a Zillertaal 0-6-2. There's not much space for the bits so some modifications may be necessary. Would dearly love to do one of my 66s next but the unit I have in mind is about ,£170 so more sales will be required to fund.IMG_20160828_115144_1472382065057_1.JPG

That looks very smart - although I cannot understand the insanity of DCC :lipssealed::lipssealed::lipssealed:

Wait, according to Vic Smith's definition, the "Dark side" is battery power. Is there a parallel dark side ?

Ah! So that's why some of the LGB components have a p on the end of the item number.

Presumably anything that does not involve a DC Voltage Controller that is nit DCC is the Dark Side. That means that I am 3 times over the limit

DCC Massoth
Battery
Live Steam with Radio Control

Can I get Tablets to help with the problem?
JonD

EDIT
OH yes I could, if I used Marrklin DCC System I could use my iPad!

In an infinite Universe..
There are in infinite number of parallel 'Dark Sides' all co-existing at once, at the same time, and in the same space..

Sometimes you can spot a locomotive emerging through a 'portal' from a 'black-hole'..

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

You're so far into the dark side, you're in a black hole.....LOL

A good start Mike. Bet you love the 65003

I do, but when I have time it will need some fettling. On acceleration the speed of the engine noise does not increase that much. I'll have to get into these CV thingies and alter something.. I've also got one of those accessory decoders which I would like to link to a smoke unit but work so that it will blow a healthy plume of exhaust on initial pull away and drop to an acceptable level once cruising speed is reached.

Funny how the dark side is always the other side... :)
Oh yes, of course :p:p

But I think it really comes from the practice of dark arts - in other words, things that are incomprehensible to mere mortals.

On that basis alone, DCC is a dark art.

I mean to say, DC is really pretty basic - you have two wires, and the electrons rush one way down the red wire, and come running back the other way along the black wire. Seeeeeemples :cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

Well.........
No, actually..

Yet another 'lie to children' to explain how it works..
;):confused:

Oh to be back in simple times. Electricians only had to know three things. Black to black, white to white and payday is on Friday. That's two more things than plumbers need to know. Sh_t runs down hill and don't bite your finger nails....LOL

... and Airline pilots only need to know that they have to stay in the middle of the sky.

And plumbers say that electricians think manual labor is a Spanish dancer! But no offence intended - father was an electrician and so is my brother:)

Noooo - next you're going to tel me that Father Christmas isn't real :cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Franchise operation, a little like tooth-fairies..

<aside>
Overheard in the queue to see Santa (at Chasewater Railway Santa specials), the queue was a little long.. Despite telling them on the information they get to allow two hours, 'we should have gone to Telford (shopping centre), they have ten Santa's there!'

*We have a magic-curtain, and a door-bell.. Our grotto uses TARDIS technology, so we can manipulate time and space, and have two families seeing The Big Red Man at once!! ;):think::lipssealed::lipssealed:

When my kids were small, they were taken to see the jolly red fat man at a local emporium and were quite delighted when they came out that they had proved that he was not the real Santa, as his eyebrows weren't white :rock::rock::rock::rock::rock:
