Misleading description

The text is very , very misleading they are definatly refered to as LGB in the title.

I think this is the same seller I asked the question to a few weeks ago. Right to the end of the auction it stated there had been no questions asked!!!

I reported it to Ebay. Let's see what happens - if anything.

Questions sent to sellers don't automatically appear in the box at the bottom of the auction - the seller has the option to put them up there IF they think that the info will help other bidders and maybe avoid them having to answer the same queries multiple times. If you ask a question about something that the seller doesn't want made obvious to the bidders, then he's not going to put it up for all to see.

I agree that in this case it's very misleading (and definitely against eBay rules) for him to put "LGB" in the auction heading - but playing devil's advocate for a moment, I think we need to accept that "LGB" has become pretty much a generic term for G scale to many people - just in the same way that all vacuum cleaners were "Hoovers", at least until Dyson came along... ;)

I don't disagree about LGB becoming more or less synonymous with G Scale but the real product name ought to feature in the description.
Please don't think I am objecting to the brand - I have 6 of the coaches but I do like to know what I am buying.

Just 'report item'. the option is in the lower left corner.
Dont leave it to someone else. I expect ebay do monitor these reports because we all know they are money grabbing baskets and its in thier interest .
I just did it. Your turn now. Go on.

i haVE reported it ..

Hi All - and me ////

My preference on Ebay is purely to look at Aristo-Craft models being offered.
However many item descriptions are multi named such as: LGB/Aristo-Craft/Bachmann and similar. It makes me wonder how much, if anything, do many sellers know about what they sell. I get them impression that the Trade Descriptions Acts of the UK are not applicable to Ebay!

I deleted my comment here 'cos it was rubbish!!!!:nail::wits::angry::angry::angry:

Probably because its registered in Luxembourg with Paypal?
Purely a tax dodge, Luxembourg law is the same as anyone elses concerning trade descriptions, and STO are definitely traders.

They know darn well what they are selling, it is a keyword spam (which you can report to eBay BTW, if they are not a power seller, the listing may be pulled down, if they are probably not).

In the seller's mind, you found their item because you were looking for one thing, simple marketing 101.

This is an extract from the Ebay reply when I reported the listing
"Please be aware that, as it's important that eBay maintains member
privacy, we can't share details of the action we take. We'll only
contact you again about this matter if we need to ask you for more
information. "
It is disgraceful.
A couple of years ago I bought an upgrade for Windows software. Shortly after I received it I got a message from Ebay. "
Do not accept this item, the seller has been banned"!!!!
Ludicrous, I already had the update.
I had good reason to believe that the software was pirated. I asked ebay to clarify and confirm if that was the reason for their idiotic instruction. I asked for a refund from them. All requests were refused or ignored.
My concern was that if the software was pirated and I tried to sell it on they would ban me. and askd for indemnity.
I got no sense out of them.
I shunned ebay for a long time afterwards.

Sorry, but I don't see anything "disgraceful" about ebay's response. You've done what you felt was your duty in reporting the item, but beyond that it's up to ebay how they wish to proceed and not really anyone else's business.

Your experience with the software purchase was a bit naff, though.

I think it is disgraceful that they can hide behind inaction if they choose.
Read all their blurb and they try to make out that they are open and concerned.
Yes, they are but about their profit first and foremost the rest is hype.

Had a similar thing with them a couple years ago, the seller died (as in no longer living) about the time I won the item. After a couple weeks eBay told me not to pay due to fraudulent use of the account (there was none, just everyone complaining about not getting their items because the guy was dead). Took about a month to sort out and get a charge back, but it all worked in the end.
