Might pick up another locomotive

Check the vintage of the 'Lyn'..

Heard mixed reports on TCS decoders, but think it was based on using their smaller units in O gauge??

YMMV.

I blew up a TCS one amp decoder in a Stainz. It was not a large scale decoder specifically, but the stainz never pulls more than about 0.3

I bet it does on 'stall'??

There again, it was probably the track voltage that killed it..

Maybe a stall would have killed it but it happily went round 3/4s of the track and just stopped - dead. Your probably right, it was the voltage. MTS3 at the time and I think that's about 18V.
Anyway, it's got an LS in it now and it sound great!

DO IT ! You know you won't be happy until you do.

G8, whats that - sounds like some economic community meeting?

The G8 is supposed to be for G-scale, with a peak amp capability of 8 amps.

From website:

Current Rating - Avg 4 Amps , Peak 8 Amps

At £38.40 that does sound attractive..
I would be tempted to give one a go.

With a Massoth M at 34 quid, I know where I would go.

While running a stainz without smoke may be under 300ma, but the smoke unit draws 200ma when cold and lights can draw 100ma until they heat up. I would never go with less than 1 amp on small engines, and I now use the Zimo 1.2 amp MX645 (1.5 amp with the plus22).
