Massoth sound-file for a Class 66

Can anyone suggest a 'better fit' from the Massoth sound-files available, than the 2095/2096 file please?
 
Well, in a perfect world.. I would be putting a Phoenixsound card in it.. But the card would probably be worth as much as the loco is at present! - Mainboard has blown, and it only runs in reverse, with the wrong light signature!!

No chance of a replacement board, so am about to try and use an XLS. - despite my telling them the LED's are the wrong way round for DCC.

I think I will get away with any decent diesel sound, but if the sound-file has a whistle like the Glacier express stuff, then it will just be silly!

ESU make an awesome sound project, but it's for the HO version. I don't know whether you can load that into a large scale decoder.
 
I have fitted an MRC sound decoder for a US GP loco to a V51.

It is basically the same as the US made 66 engine, with its distinctive 'ying ying' sound....
 
I have a 66 'shed' (my only Brit loco) with an ESU Loksound XL decoder that has a sound file programmed by Southwest Digital.
It is incredible and has a totally authentic start-up procedure.

When I chipped my 66, I turned the LEDs round on the mounting pcb and re-wired to make them work common-positive as required by the decoder. I abandoned the main board PIC controller for the lighting and made a new stripboard with resistors etc. to route decoder functions to lights.

That is my preferred route, though if this turns out to be a later model, they started using surface-mount teeny-tiny components.. Which may scupper me. - Not had a lot of luck with 'recovering' SM components to date.

Thanks for all the alternative brand suggestions.. Unfortunately, I am limited by what I am supplied, and asked to do..
