Help needed.

I'm in need of a Massoth points decoder. I have an LGB points decoder, but need the Massoth as that can also operate 3 wire points motor. Want to double up with the Massoth to operate the points on my n gauge (3 leads) and my g scale.
So can do a deal with my LGB decoder, or offer it for sale.

I'd have thought a Massoth unit would be an expensive way of running N gauge point motors. You should be able to use any brand of DCC point motor decoder that's suitable for the type of motor (double solenoid like Peco?) Like everything else, the accessory decoder protocol is standardised in NMRA DCC.

Ah - do you mean you want to physically swap the point decoder unit from your G system to your N system? I would think that would get tiresome, as I say there are plenty of point decoders out there that are cheaper than Massoth and should work just fine with the Massoth DCC system. Watch the operating voltage, you may need to lower it a little to suit the N gauge point motors (though to be honest I run my PECO motors with individual 24V Capacitor Discahrge Units)

[another edit]
Might be possible to operate 3 wire point motors anyway, just wire the two coils in parallel but with a diode on each motor coil to control which one is energised according to the polarity of the DC output from the 2-wire decoder.

Hullo Steve,

I'm happy to swap your old Massoth Decoder for an LGB one....

I intend to swap the unit between the g scale and the n gauge by using 12 way plug. I know it's seem an expensive way, but I use the Massoth system to operate both, voltage up for g scale and down for n gauge. So or though it sound an expensive way it's cheaper than buying another dcc control system.

You have a deal there sir.
I'll let you know once I've removed the LGB decoder.
