Does anyone have a favourite masking tape ?

Another vote for the Tamiya stuff here Don, especially for low tack situations. It's expensive, but worth it on a quality job.

I've bought cheapo tape from markets etc., but sometimes you can't even pull it off the roll without it ripping to bits. No good being cheap when it ends up in the bin.

For the scale we are working in your better off with "Lining tape" it comes in all widths and will stretch and bend without creasing its normally green and is a bit like car pin stripe.....its used for fine masking on cars etc. Just look up Motor factors in your area they will also sell a "ream" of masking tape (10 rolls) proberly for the price you will pay for buys 4 in your local DIY shop

B&Q precision (it's blue) - works a treat.

I use this too.
Got to say it's not absolutely perfect, occasionally bleeds at corners.
Far better than the "ordinary" brown stuff.

yes I use the blue "Painters Proffessional" stuff to
I find application technique to be important. Generally I apply the tape over any edges then cut away what I dont need with a very sharp blade. This seems to press the tape edge into a more intimate contact and give a crisp professional edge

I got a great low tack masking tape from a fabric store apparantly used by the trade. IT was a little wide for detail parts but for general masking it was great. and about quarter of the price of propper modelling tape.
