Hi all

just got back from the Llanfair Railway Gala......great morning. Unfortunately I could only stay a couple of hours, but managed to get a few pictures (before the flipping camera died!!)
I did not realise how well attended the show was....it was very busy and very well worth the visit. Lucky for me as it only took 15 minutes to get there.
I am sure there will be a lot of better pictures to follow, but here are a few to get you started.

Thanks for the pic's Kevin some nice looking layouts there :)sadly couldn't make it this year due to work .

I have to say I very nearly parted with a large sum of money. I fact I'm beginning to think I should have been bolder and done it. Roundhouse recently discontinued production the Atlantic, but had one billed as the 'very last Atlantic' on their stand. I'm consoling myself with the fact that it was green, and I have enough green locos . . . . . . . . . . . . :crying::crying:

Apart from the Cain Howley concrete tunnels I picked up a little kit to build over the winter months - An IP Engineering Plate Frame Simplex

Have fancied a go at one of these for a few years - so bit the bullet
Now need to find some little wagons to rattle along behind it - probably a rake of open slate wagons is what I'm thinking...... :D

We had a good day today and as I expected I managed to spend more then I intended.
This layout in one of the side rooms took my eye, I think it was 1:12 scale on 32mm gauge.

I bought Becky Pinniger's book "Planting your Garden Railway" which at first glance looks to be very useful and very inspiring too!
These were the cause of some of the overspend.

Another great day out. It was a bit chilly early in the morning, when the clouds blocked the sun. I did manage to keep my shorts on, although had jeans and a jumper in the car.
Didn't buy much to start with, but something I left on the GSS bring and buy sold, so the funds were recycled.
I only saw the orange diesel once..at Welshpool, but it wasn't there when I dropped in later on.

Super beer in the beer tent..the 50th anniversary ale by Purple Moose was so good, I had to have another!

Always interesting to see the full size live steam road vehicles.

Hi all
I should of mentioned earlier, but I thought the show was well organised, you can see a lot of planning went into it. For me it also pointed out what was said on the forum a little while ago.....this is still a very popular hobby, certainly from what I saw today was anything to go by. I arrived at 10.05 and the car park was getting busy, by the time I left a couple of hours later the car park was pretty much full and cars were still arriving. Walking around the show I also noticed a lot of ladies taking great interest in the exhibits, not to mention lots of children . I heard one young child telling his Dad.....' Dad...look at that big train set, can I have one'........could be another membership for the G scale society coming up me thinks!!......and get this.......I heard a lady talking her husband into buying a loco.......how amazing is that (jealous or what )
For me 'Hampton End' is always my favourite as I just love LGB, but that is not to say the other layouts were not great, because they were.
If you are going tomorrow....enjoy.
Kev

PS
I saw today at the show the exhibit by' Model Sounds'. I could not believe the sound that came from such a small device, and so many sound recordings available to add life to a railway. I had seen adverts for the sound device before, but after actually hearing it today for myself I will definitely be a future customer.

meny thanks to steve warrington, for the work he puts into setting up, and running this show, its was a fantastic day ,met loads of old, and new freinds. was the best part of thge show, for, me, meeting up, and haveing a laught with everyone ,thanks
