To do list:

Lay track bed and track - done
Plant trees - done
Build coaches - done
2 Horses in a paddock - done (wait for it! :D )
Take photos and make a short vid - soon
Line the Caradoc in gold/black and add nameplates - how do I do that?

I know that there are suppliers of nameplates, so that's no problem, but I haven't a clue as to how to go about lining the loco. I want to do it myself (even though the end result might not be perfect) so sending it away to a professional is not an option. Can anyone give any tips on how to do it, what to use etc. etc?

Thanks in advance (I know that sounds a bit twee, but I also know that I'll get some very good advice soon  )

Search for 'Trimline' on the forum, its been discussed several times before. Thin tape available from model aeroplace/boat shops.

Cheers Doug, found them.

I did try a search but I never used the word 'trimline'. Searches are great things, if you put the right word in! :D

I used waterslide transfers made for me by Chris Moxham, a selection of corners and lines. Used much patience, failing eyesight and bad (naval) language. Works for me. The VoR is done with this, and nameplates by er, um, I've forgotten....

I can PM you his e mail if you want to chat with him about custom made stuff, or GRS do some too, but it's a bit crude IMHO. The Mortimer is done with theirs, and nameplates by Alan Briggs.

Careful though- a lot of the automotive stuff tends to be a bit thick.

Lining can really make a locomotive- but get it wrong and it can easily make it look awful...

My Peckett was done with transfers from http://www.locolines.net/ < Link To Locolines , excellent results and you get all the corners and straights you could need

I went the 'Trimline' route and I'm reasonably pleased with my efforts:

However, seeing the results of Artismike's Peckett using transfers from Locolines, I might have to think again... :(

Oh I dunno, I'd say you've done a blummin' good job there!

If you do decide to go for transfers instead, drop NewHavenNeil a PM for the contact details for the chap who did the transfers for the VoR. I've heard different reports regarding the suitability of locolines transfers for live steam locos.

Blow me, I think your loco looks great !! Mine is obviously a 'lectric jobby and Locolines lining has stood the test of time very well but Matt may well be right regarding your actual proper steaming locos. Anyway, it looks great as it is, great colour-scheme!
