Lights on all time.

I have a Soeg Kof 6001 (LGB 23591) bought earlier this year, second hand. Lovely loco that has run faultlessly until last week, when all the lights came on and remain on whenever I use the loco. I am running MTS 3, (Central station 55006P) power supply (50110) and a LGB universal remote.(55015P)
Using button 9 (lights) on the universal remote the state of the lights doesn't change. (They did, prior to last week.) Button 8 toggles the loco between normal and shunting speeds; while at shunting speed all lights should normally come on, as they did, prior to last week. The speed of the loco is toggling between normal and shunting speeds when button 8 is pressed but the lights do not toggle; they all remain on. *All other sound functions of the loco work as normal, and read switches are triggering respective loco sounds as expected. I have made no changes to CV's since taking ownership; CV's remain as I received the loco. Button 9 on the universal remote toggles lights on/off on all other locos.
*When changing CV's I only have the basic facilities provided by the Universal remote and have no way of reading CV's
Am I missing something simple or could it be a partial failure of the decoder? (This is factory-fitted)
Any help will be much appreciated.

This might be an effect of the mfx decoder fitted in these locos. Have you changed CV 50 to make it DCC only protocol?

Turn off MFX, as suggested..
Then double-check the speed-step setting in CV 29..

According to LGB documentation from the web site (link here - 568cc053d8844731fb3be1552b0c825f1510754761.pdf), F8 should toggle sound on/off. Shunting speed via F8 is a characteristic of a Massoth decoder which I didn't think were factory-fitted.

One of our more expert contributors could guide you as to how to determine which type of decoder is fitted by reading a CV - hopefully this will then help with diagnosing and fixing the issue.

Thanks gents for all your rapid responses. I only have the universal remote, which I use to make limited CV changes when required. I have no means of reading CV's. I have made no changes to this loco; it just happened during a running session - really strange behaviour! I was hoping that it would just change itself back again, but it hasn't! I also read in the accompanying manual that button 8 is sound on/off, but button 8 toggles normal/shunting speeds on this loco; all lights on at shunting speed. Sound on/off is on button 5.
Best regards, Graham.

Yes Paul - I've cycled power several times. (It's always the first thing I try with our machines in the mines when we have a problem - usually works as well!)
Regards Graham.

F5 'standing sounds off/on' and F8 'shunting speed' are Massoth 'de-facto' settings, which suggests this loco has either a Massoth decoder fitted, or a previous owner had it altered to mirror their Massoth-fitted loco's..

I would say read CV 8 to obtain the Manufacturer ID, but if you are unable to do that.. :(

Seeing as we have a pretty good idea where in the country you are.. :giggle:
Is there anyone, in Northest Yorkshire, who would be prepared to do a little investigating? :wondering::think:
