Lighthouse and Windmill

G scale and driving my Royale Sabre kit car
Aldi have in a lighthouse and a windmill for £9.99 each which seem suitable for G-scale.

I have them both - quite heavy, but I would suggest that the windmill is anchored down - otherwise the sails get damaged (don't ask how I know).

What?. No pics?

Brought the windmill yesterday.

I already have a lighthouse....

I wondered about those items. I saw them listed in my frequent Aldi e-mail.
As it happens I am going to my local Aldi in an hours time so I will check them out - if they have them of course. Some smaller stores only carry certain items it seems.

Postscript:
Both items were there. I bought the mill. I looked at the lighthouse but it does not really fit in with my railroad location which broadly speaking is set in the Shenandoah Valley, having connections with Class 1 railroads near Roanoke in the south and at its northerly point in SW Pennsylvania. Coal trains from south east West Virginia are a feature of the line.

The Shenandoah Valley lies between the Blue Ridge Mountains to the east and the Allegheny Mountains to the west. It stretches approximately 200 miles from Harpers Ferry, West Virginia to Roanoke, Virginia

We've got the windmill, on my wife's suggestion, and when you look at the doors they are about half the height required for 15/16mm to the foot!

Also the windmill is solar powered to light up, not to turn the blades, which sort of spin in the wind right up until they get hit by a football!

Say, 38, that's quite the arithmetic you gave us there. I arrive at a door height of about two to two-and-a-half inches. Am I close?

id have to check but i just compared them to a couple of rough G scale figures and it all looks a bit alice through the looking glass!

If you put the windmill at the furthest point of your garden, it will make the layout look even bigger than it is! A little bit of forced perspective never goes amiss

Did a similar thing with a Tuxcraft castle ruin a few years back as they were a little under scale for G. Added some 1:32 scale Prieser figures on the top of the tower to add to the illusion. Worked I think.

Speaking of windmills and lighthouses, I bought these from Wal-mart several years ago. They come out in summer, spending winter in the shed.

They are quite large. I suspect the battery in the lighthouse is getting old; it appears to be built-in rather than replaceable AAs, as in the windmill, and works some nights but not others, even with a full day of sun to recharge (it doesn't help that the photocell has filmed over).
