LGB Toytrain chassis

My apologies if this has already been covered - did a search but couldn't find anything listed.

Any idea where I can lay hands on the 0-4-0 motor blocks for LGB Toytrains? In the past I've always bought a secondhand Otto or a Rusty and discarded the body but I'm sure I've heard talk of getting the motor blocks new.

Failing that, does Piko or Bachmann make an 0-4-0 motor block? I know they do 0-6-0 but not seen an 0-4-0 (apart from motor bogies)

Thanks Dave. Presumably it can be rewheeled for a steam outline loco

Hi again - maybe ok with loco wheels ??? looks like 3mm axels but you would have problems to fit wizzy cranks - change axels :crying:- is there a German supplier for a Lgb chassis 0-4-0 -- I would be interested - also - share p/p ??? regards Dave

I hate to say this, but parts and stuff that used to be readily available is now apparently being hoarded by collectors or simply not produced anymore by mfrs, and when offered the prices for that stuff has gotten so high of late, I have consider that in a couple years if the continued prices keep rising, I may be completely priced out of the bashing business.

I am looking for a drive to remotor one of my bashes, the asking price for the appropriate mechanisms out there makes me question whether I really want to continue with that particular project. at some point its just not worth the capital necessary.

Hi , should have checked before writing - sorry the axels are 6 mm , and the wheels screw up on the ends like early lgb however they are 8mm with keyway problems I think ( lgb wheels new type seem to be 5mm so you could drill them bigger they would work , and use the end screw to hold them on - if you just want -outside frame loco -- you could change the length of holding (wheel) screw on aristo unit to fit wizzy cranks that would be straight forward -- --Dave

Rik,

Modell-Land do a stainz chassis with cylinders and rods for E69.99, their toytrain 0-4-0 diesel with siderods and body for E59.99, the otto type steam loco for E89.99 (complete loco with body). Postage is quite expensive, but maybe you could do a joint order with other members of the forum.

Have an ebay search for playmobil eisenbahn, then have a look around the 30 quid mark - there are usually a few motor blocks available, with the old steam engine wheels.

Thanks chaps - I'll look into these suggestions and let you know where I get to.

Yes - it seems a shame that this source of mechs is drying-up. It makes bashing so much more straightforward.
