LGB TEDDY Boutique item

Frank Gallagher

Well matured physically if not mentally
Any one have an LGB Ted (the larger boutique item not the small Steiff ones that come with wagons) or know where there is one for sale?

Preferable the European version, and any ideas of a fair price?

Cheers

LGB are at GRS today..
I am in there later, so will enquire of them for you..

Apparently, there will be 'nibbles' as well! :lipssealed:;)

Frank,
I am not sure whether the 'LGB person' was old enough to know what I was on about, but...

He reckoned they had only ever done bears in wagons..

ALL LGB bears were Steiff..

They had done a open wagon with a larger bear in, but it had never been available on its' own.

So not a lot of good there, sorry!
PhilP.

The LGB "boutique" bear does exist, because I have one, bought on evilBay a couple of years ago. Maybe it is out of a wagon set, but I don't think so, I'm sure it's been listed in old catalogues. Just a pretty standard small brown teddy bear wearing a red "LGB" neckerchief. He's about 6" tall (in a sitting position). He's definitely not a Steiff, the tag on his backside says "Seneca", Germany (Hamburg) and has washing instructions.....

Here's the little chap, sitting on the scratchbuilt 5906 Mallet that I'm in the process of rewiring.....

Afraid he's not for sale, Frank, but I'm sure you'll find another of his litter out there somewhere.....

Given the slightly squinty eyes on the bear, I suppose I should call him "Gladly".......

I wasn't convinced the guy knew for sure.. He was 'new' LGB, as opposed to an 'old retainer' who would know chapter and verse..

I don't see why the ad is in Spanish as the bears (they have 5) are in Bavaria! I'm also not entirely sure they are original LGB items or off-the-shelf teddies with an LGB neckerchief, still if it's what you want. :inlove:
Ah, they are original LGB teddies from Lehmann days and were only available at the factory shop.

Well spotted, Pugs! Your Google-Fu is strong today, Glasshopper.....
Pretty much the same as mine (including the "Seneca" label on his a*se), the only variation I can see is that the neckerchief on mine has the www.lgb.de website below the main logo.... otherwise it's the same.

Jon.

Strange, this. I was the grasshoper to LGB-FU master Mel, but after a little while the Grasshopper was teaching the Master about airbrushing. I still miss the Master though (and Tigger).

Fu Master still looks in occasionally - you see his name in the 'Online' box now and again.

As you suggest not a Steiff. Easy to double check, genuine Steiff have a button fixed in their ear, left I think.

And Steiff written on their a*se, they are also way more valuable over here.

And I thought it was a Teddy (in the larger size) like my girl friend would wear...

Possibly if you ask nicely but I doubt she will get Steiff tattooed on her bum. :wasntme:

Oooooh, you bet :*
