Last weekend my Mogul wrecked, not sure how it may have been grandkids messing about during birthday garden bash but unsure as didn`t actually see the problem, was just told that "the train has crashed":swear:.Luck would have it as it only fell about 6 inches so appeared that no damage had been done. How wrong can you be!!! Back on track and sent the `ol girl on her way, then after a couple of circuits it began to judder, stop start so assumed dirty track, cleaned track but no difference.THEN SHE STOPPED,CONTROLLER SHOWED DEAD SHORT RED LIGHT,took loco away and put replacement loco on,no problems so mogul had the problem...Next day pulled the bottom off the loco to have a look and found that one of the contact strips(pick ups on axles)had jumped and made contact with the other side, thought had found the problem, replaced everything and still DEAD SHORT,so assumed major fault internally and she needed some checking out by someone who knew more than I.So during the week I ended up at Glendale and Brian took a look........and after taking the `ol` girl apart about 6 or 7 times, checking everything, motor ok,switch etc etc we assumed that the board had gone and would probably just end up with a few mods as runner only,no sound ,smoke or lights, then for some reason we put the tender on(can`t remember why) and the connection 6 pin plug from the loco was very hard to get into the tender pick up point, this not usual,so checked the plug to find out why?,,,,,,,,bubble of heated plastic on the plug, could it be the problem? So the plug was replaced with a new item and track tested, hey presto the old lady was back, all working fine,it was the plug that melted and shorted out,£1:25 for the part and my loco back:):):whew:,and the cost of workshop time but still reasonable as she is now as good as new,a big thanks to Brian and a lot cheaper than a replacement loco, posted as if happens to someone else CHECK THE PLUG FIRST:D:D:D:D:D:D:D,,,,,,Laters Rio

Result!
The connection between loco and tender does leave something to be desired..
I have one here, and we think it has been dropped / picked up roughly / come off the track..
The wires have pulled from the connector, and someone has tried to put them back in.. Wires and connector are mangled..

All I need to do is work out which wire does what!!

I had a Nicki & Frank S, the motors ran at different speeds, it was a bugger to trace the fault as the tender has to be connected to the loco to run and that's when I spotted it: the connector had been plugged and unplugged until one of the tiny gauge wires had snapped. Cut wires back and new connector fitted and normal service was resumed. Well, with the loco, I'm still derailed.
