Hi I have just fitted a Massoth Pulsed Smoke Generator into my LGB Mikado. I am pleased with it so please enjoy the two video clips below;

And the third one filmed from infront on a truck (excuse the slight derailment)!!!

I now have Massoth Pulsed Smoke units in all three of my locomotives (LGB Sumpter Valley Mallet, LGB Mikado and LGB 2-10-2 Harz). Although interestingly the only factory fitted Massoth pulsed smoke unit in the LGB 2-10-2 Harz locomotive doesn't produce as much smoke as the two retro fitted Massoth units even though the CV settings etc are identical??? Any idea's any one???

Hope you enjoyed,

Thanks,

Mark

Very nice, thanks for sharing these videos. 2 questions:

Smoke and chuff are synchronised in the 3rd video, but not the other two. Is this sth. you can adjust?

Does this engine have only two cylinders?

The factory-installed one in your 2-10-2 may be an early model of the pulsed smoke unit - I believe Massoth have made several changes and improvements over the years, so your two retro-fit units may be the newer types which could account for the better smoke volumes....?

There are also two different elements available (I believe).. One marketed as a higher volume smoke output unit.

I have lag problems with YouTube, so can never tell if videos are synced correctly, or even if some 'chuffs' are being dropped.. :(:rolleyes:

Hi the chuffs are definitley synchronised to the chuffs in all videos! You cannot adjust anything so far as I am aware but the chuffs and puffs are both fed from the same axle sensor.
Thanks,
Mark
