Lgb Frank S And The All Lgb Train

dewintondave

Live Steam, Live Diesel

All our LGB stock in one run.

The switcher is very useful in limiting the speed of the train, and taking some of the strain.

At around 3' 39" you can see the coupling chain tightening on the front of the orange wagon in front of the switcher as Frank S pulls.

I had been topping up the boiler through the run, it was at a good level when the gas finally ran out half way round the track. With quite a lot of energy remaining in the boiler, the train was able to make it to the yards before all pressure was lost.

Best wishes,
Dave

Interesting to see a FrankS doing what it is supposed to. Some have had problems with Steaming these beasts in the past, you certainly have got the measure of it.

Oh by the by, we do not think of an 0-6-0 Tender Locomotive as a Switcher in Europe.

Hi Jon,
It's the easiest steamer to run.

I'm referring to the 0-4-0 diesel at the back, it's battery operated.

Best wishes,
Dave

Very nice loco and train. Great video.........

Aha yes I get it now. Very like our Steam Specials in England that have a Diesel tacked on the end for sometimes Electric Train Power and other times just in case. What was not mentioned much after all the fuss with a certain Flying Scotsman was that there was a Diesel Following a Block Section or two behind as a kind of Insurance just in case of problems. Your little Yellow Peril reminded me of that kind of thing.
