Good Afternoon. I have recently obtained an LGB Forney, and note that through the snow plow on the front, there is a small bar through the plow with a screw hole in it, presumably for a coupling hoop? If so, what type of coupling fits the bar, as a standard LGB hoop will not fit?

Hi Duncan, did you buy this from Glendale?

No probs,I have just sold my Forney via Glendale and thought it could have been that one...I also wondered what went on that bar .I purchased mine new and am sure I don't remember anything in the box to attach to it.

I think you will find it depends on the particular 'flavour' of Forney you have..
I am in the throws of trying to repair one which has been ?dropped?.. Amongst other things the plow/cow-catcher has been sheared off.

The cow-catcher is available as a spare part 'kit', but the mounting to connect it to the loco is not!!

I have been able to get certain spares by being 'creative' with model numbers. - This loco is missing a valve-chest cover. I have a set of cylinder ends, and the valve-chest covers, but they are silver rather than black.
I will swap the lot, rather than try to match the paint finish.

The hand-rail brackets that push into the boiler-barrel on this (and other) models are not available as a spare either.. I am about to get some of these made as (believe it or not) brass castings!

<edit>
I will take some pictures and post them tomorrow.. There are coupler parts with the cow-catcher kit, and I *think* there may be a long-shaft knuckle with a different Forney model I have here.

As promised.. The main part has had a bit (sort of) clipped on the back, and it is now firmly fixed!
The coupler lifting bar has two brackets, two 'pegs' for the ends.. There is the small 'T' shaped paddle bit (not sure on that one), and the dummy coupler socket.
Other shots show the catcher and socket, the mounting holes, and the socket in-place..

The little paddle-thingy, does appear to be a tight push-fit into the slots in the coupler, but am pretty sure it is suppose to be something to do with the lift mechanism??
