Hello, could anyone please advise me which decoder i should buy to fit into my newly purchased Lgb Duo 21900 shunting loco, and also where i can buy it? Many Thanks

Hi Dave,

This is the Red analogue one? I have manufactured a DCC upgrade PCB for this loco so that you can convert it to DCC usage. I need to complete the instructions.

My board can use any decoder but I would recommend a Massoth eMotion L or eMotion LS decoder. The board/kit is not yet listed on my website. I can supply a decoder as well if needed.

I brought a replacement Massoth L from Muns for my 21900 KoF.

It already had sound installed using an S decoder.

It works very well now thanks to help from Muns....

Thanks lads, it is the red analogue one, i bought it on ebay a few weeks ago not realising that it was analogue only. I read somewhere that it can be fitted with a decoder.. to be honest i havent had a railway for 8 years and i am not that up on how to fit a decoder to something that doesnt have a direct interface. I really like the idea of having sound on it aswel. Would a novice like me be able to do this?

Should be do-able ..Talk to mark (Muns) and I am sure he could supply all the bits read programed so you would just need to fit them!

I have rebuilt 2 of these. The first job is to convert the gearbox to 4 wire to separate the motor from the track.
In the first one I fitted an ESU Locsound XLS decoder. I operated the couplings using relays but needed a 12 v voltage stabiliser to run this.
The second one was fitted with a Massoth XLS & with the assistance of Mark (Muns) I fitted a PCB to operate the couplings directly.
I fitted a small speaker in the "bulkhead" between the cab & the engine compartment.
To get good slow running I changed the tyred wheel for a plain one.

Here is a pic of the PCB I have manufactured for this loco....

That's rather professional looking Mark, Excellent piece of work:thumbup::thumbup:
Thanks, I have one more board that allows for easier connection of the Massoth uncoupler, versions will be tailored for connection to specific decoders.

Mark,

Bit of a long shot but you don't still have any of these boards around do you?
