Lgb decoder interface socket.

I've been talking to Muns about a lead to connect a loksound XL to the new dcc interface, we think it's the Marklin G1 socket can anyone confirm? I want the loksound rather than Massoth for steam locos and flexibility so I can move it to other locos if I want so don't want a plug in socket only.

No first hand experience, but according to info about the LGB 55529 adapter cable you can use it either way round - ie. connect the new 55028 decoder to the older interface, or connect older decoder to a loco with the new interface. Can't find any piccies of the 55529 anywhere! By "old interface" I assume they mean the 10 pin plug as per 55027 decoder?

I'm thinking you could take a 55529, cut the "old interface" plug off and wire to the ESU decoder?

On the other hand, should be possible to make you own converter cable, just need to find the pin-out for the new Marklin interface?

closest I can find so far to a diagram of the new interface is near the bottom this post about fitting an XLs in an allegra

That 'interface' is the original 'bodge' to fit an XLS to the Allegra.. It did not work well!
Massoth now do a 'special' XLS to fit the Allegra. - I have not looked, but there is probably a downloadable document on the Massoth site about it?? It is a different PCB with the connectors already on it.

If you mean a 'old' interface, is it not the six pin?

If you mean the ten pin, go by the colours, NOT any 'lumps and bumps' on the connector for polarity and alignment.. I have ten pin cables with the connectors either way round.

From experience with the Allegra, if the Marklin decoder(s) are as cheap, it is hardly worth the bother.. - The Marklin (full function and sound) decoder for the Allegra is £65 - £70 for example.

The interface in the Allegra is what is being talked about here Phil. Marklin also use it in the Rhatia and BR139. It will probably be in new engines they can fit it into. Massoth have the XL-M1 and XLS-M1 that will fit the interface, the pin out is described in the manual which is available in the download section of the Massoth web site.

Is this the PLuG interface as also used in the TL45 Mallets, or something proprietory to Marklin alone?

Jon.

No this is not the PLuG interface Jon.

The pin designations are given on page 8 of the Massoth XLS-M1 manual, which is available as a download form the Massoth site.

Well Mark and I settled on the loksound pin version as it should plug in but has the easy to obtain pins if I choose to use it elsewhere. Sorry I know the Massoth is an easy plug in but I'm picky and like the sound options on the loksound better for steam as their load dependant sound is graduated not on off like Massoth. Too much driving of real steamys so it drives me nuts and the Harz locos are slowly being converted from the onboard versions too :)
