Hello, I have just bought an LGB Crocodile RhB Ge6/6. It may sound a bit daft, but how do you raise the pantograph mechanism?
Regards
John

For a start, you need to unclip it from the roof. - They lock down, and can take a bit of force to unclip.. Look carefully and you will see the top section (the bow) has a lug which clips into the roof section. One clip forwards, one clip backwards.

Then it depends whether there are motors fitted to the panto's, or not..
If there are, and you are on analogue, then the rear panto will go up as the loco starts to move.
If the loco is fitted with an original decoder, then there are two modes of pantograph operation.. In one mode F3 will cycle through (from both down) one up, two up, first down, second down for each press of F3. Second mode needs activating by pressing F7.. Then F3 toggles one panto up and down, and F4 the other.

**Note: All the above from memory.

Phil Thanks for the reply. You are exactly right! its the bit of force that I am having a problem with. So you push one back and one forward! it seems to take a lot of force and I just cannot push it out past the curved recess! it does feel like i am going to "breek it" as my grandmother used to say.

Does anyone have any pictures or instructions?

image.jpg It's a sort of anti-clockwise twist of the head to release it and yes you do have to be firm, the wire can take a lot of flexing. The clip can be seen at the base of the nearest red arrow.

Note in the modern era only one pantograph is actually wired up on the real thing so it's prototypical to have the same one up whichever way you're going. You'll notice they removed the second one from the little box cab Ge2/4 on later period models but fortunately they didn't mess with the looks on the Krok.

I had the same issue with my LGB 23330 Maintenance of Way loco. It takes a lot of nerve to apply sufficient force to release the pantograph but not too much to break it off! I guess once it's up it's up and once it's down it's down, but I think a bit of redesign by LGB wouldn't go amiss.

You can free one side at a time.. Which reduces the overall pressure. Just don't leave it held down by just one side for too long.

They are a lot more robust than you probably think!

Thanks Guys. I have done it please see the attached photo. All I need now is a decoder with sound. Any recommendations would be helpful. ThanksIMGP5814.JPG
