LGB boxes

I was just shifting some junk in the loft and came across a load of pretty much pristine LGB boxes.

Now, I can see that I MAY, one day have a use for some of the boxes that contained wagons and coaches, but the majority had track in them. I'll never have a use for those, as just about all my track has been bent, cut or what have you.

Are there folks who want these boxes?

Bear in mind I'm in the USA.

I don't want money for them, but if someone has an overwhelming need I'm happy to part with them. However, if someone wants to make a profit out of my willingness to help out a fellow enthusiast, that's not on!

Any ideas?

Why not sell the empty boxes on e-bay? There is a market for them as sometimes somebody has something to sell, and the value is increased if it comes with an original box.

Yes, that's a good suggestion.

Just trying to get them to a good home, rather than make any money out of the exercise!

without meaing to sound grabby /piggy, since you asked

i would love a box for one or two 3019s
US style two axel 4065 cabooses
toy train caboose box in green

Hmm, to be honest I'm not sure I have any of those! Let me have a delve in the attic and I'll make a list of the boxes I have.
Give me a day or so.

As an example of what people pay for old boxes there is a classic on e-bay at the moment. The item is an old empty box for a Playmobil castle (not trains I know, but stick with me!). It sold for 20,50 euros !
There can be value in empty boxes.

Finally, after three and a half years, I've got into the attic and here's a list of what I have.

4135S Van in Sleeve
3040 Coach Yellow Box
4035 Van in sleeve x2
3019 van
14800 R5 track
14060 600mm track
16000 R3 curved track x 2
18000 R5 curved track
14600 R3 curved track
14500 R2 curved track
10600 600mm track
16150 R3 switch
12100 R! switch LH. with instructions x2
10020 re-railer
16050 R3 switch
12000 R1 RH switch
12100 R1 LH switch

I'd stress that these are boxes ONLY!

Free to a good home, just pay for shipping. I'm in the USA.

If anyone knows someone who'd like these, let me know, otherwise they're going to the recycle!

I know this is super old, but are you still trying to move empty boxes?

No, sorry Whiskey. Had a big clear out a couple of years ago.

Maybe there was something else in the attic taking his attention?

Many, many things were removed from the attic! Train boxes, old Christmas decorations, old Halloween decorations, boxes of stuff that hadn’t been unpacked from two house moves ago and had migrated across The Pond from The Old Country, a large collection of Apple boxes from long traded-in iPhones, iPads and assorted iDevices, old photographic equipment boxes...... Yes, it’s a sizable space, but much more accessible now. We had an estate sale at my Father in Law’s house and took the opportunity to offload heaps of our stuff for which we had no current use. Quite a cathartic excerise. Regrettably, i found nothing similar to Greg’s suggestion, but wouldn’t know what to do with it even if I did.
Now all I have to figure out is what to do with 5-6000 vinyl singles from when I was a DJ in the ‘70s and ‘80s that are still in my mate’s farm back in the UK!

Sell the vinyl on eBay. Tedious job but vinyl records have now become the 'old school' cool thing to do. Some titles may be obscure but others will be classic 'must haves' piece of the nostalgic past.

Nice idea Paradise, but I’d need to sell them as whole and most people wont take ‘disco used’ records. I’d be happy for them to go to a good home though. I’lll have to poke around eBay as you suggest.

I think you need a new handle and avatar with that revelation Martino

Says the guy with a collection of Prog Rock vinyl. Not really ripe for a bit of dico grooving or scratching even. I sometimes wonder if I should redistribute via one of the auction sites. Seems like an intact gatefold sleeve baring Rodger Dean's artwork for "One Live Badger" collects a premium - Now if only the rest of it could do the same. Max

Have you got this one?
Can I put it on next please? :giggle:
