LGB 55027 Decoder

Hi All
I am installing a 55027 decoder in an older LGB engine . I have a question about function buttons, as I also wish to install a Phoenix Sound card in the Loco, I would assume that when I activate function F3 which would activate Lights assigned to F3 it would also activate the coupler clank from the Phoenix Card which also has F3 assigned for this sound . Am I wright to believe that I can only program 9 functions on the 55027 which includes the F9( Lighting function). I am using a Piko DCC. in the Instruction Booklet it states with LGB MTS you can only assign 8 Functions I have tried changing Function 3 CV 113 to Function 13 but the lights that I have on that Function do not work, they work when I change them back to 3. Can I change the CV Functions assigned to the Phoenix Sound Card.

Thanks for any help Frank

Hi,

Firstly, when you change the decoder to 28 speedsteps (CV29 bit 2) did you tell the Navigator that it was using 28 speedsteps?

If the Phoenix card is assigned the same address as the loco and it has access to the DCC signal (i.e. connected to the track as well) then it should respond to the commands issued.

Functions higher than 8 can be used on the 55027 but you must disable "serial" function processing by clearing CV49 bit 0. The default for CV49 is 7 so setting it to 6 will clear bit 0.

Hope that helps.

Yes, using Phoenix's computer interface unit. I don't know if any other unit would do this but I find the Phoenix software very easy to use with their sound cards.
You could ask your sound card supplier to set it up with your variables. In the past I've even known some dealers to loan an interface for a short while in order that the customer could experiment with various settings until they find the optimum for their taste.

Frank,
The programming module is a little expensive, unless you intend to fit more Phoenix sound units!
Depending where you are in the country, you may well find someone on here nearby who can change the settings for you..
I have said interface, and am in the Midlands, if that is of any help?

Hi Guys.
Thanks for all your feedback. Mark I had to change the Navigator back to 14 speed steps as the front and back lights did not work properly on 28 steps. Will changing CV 49 to 2 and setting CV 29 to 6 fix this problem with the lights, I will try changing them today to check . I have set my marker tail and Cab light to F3 and my Headlights to F9 changing CV 51 to 0 turns lights on and off. I would have liked to been able to turn the Cab lights on separately . F3 only has the coupler clank when you set it so am using it to turn marker tail and Cab lights on and off. Neil , I love the phoenix sound I have two others they are fitted to Aristo engines and are plug and play they work great. Phil , Thanks, I live on the other side of the world. Down under.
Thanks Guys I really appreciate your Help Thanks Frank

Trying to get the 'inverse coupling' of F1 and F2 to work, to give alternate flashing cab-roof lights on a 3005 yellow diesel. - Original decoder has emitted a 'brown smell' and let go the 'magic smoke'.. :o

Set outputs F1 and F2 to be controlled by Function button 1. - works, can switch lights off/on.
Set CV55 to 20, 4 (4 x 0.25 seconds 'on') + 16 for inverse function.
Have tried several values for CV57, special function of F2 output, but I can Only get them to flash together, not alternately.

Logically, I would think you set your 'on' time, and the inverse bit, for F1 (CV55=20) and CV57 to 4, for the same time-period.

Have I read it incorrectly?

Phil,

Set CV55 to the symmetric flash time value (4) and set CV57 to inverse couple with F1 (16) and try that. You should only set the "inverse" bit on the higher output. The 55027 manual is pants!

YEAHHH!!!

Thanks Mark! - Again!! ::) ;) :D ;D ;D

Are any of the manuals any good?? ::) :(
Now, if you can just tell me where I put my bag of 5V bulbs?? ;) ;)
