LGB 55015p handset

I may have been conned.
Late last year I bought a 55015p handset on ebay for use with my MTS3.
I was less than happy that it arrived with a Serial plug-in. As the price was OK I decided not to bother pursuing the matter but now that I have a wireless sender I find that it does not work in serial mode ie it is dead although it works with the wired Serial plug-in.
On checking the board I find that it is marked simply "55015" so presumably it is a Serial board in a "P" handset.

Double conned?

I have found that MTS stuff on ebay is a bit dodgy. I enquired the other day if a handset for sale was serial or parallel. The reply was that as long as the base station was parallel it didn't matter.
Either the sellers are a bit thick or conmen.
I didn't buy it!

To be fair (overly generous?) I think many people are confused about the various flavours of MTS kit!!
*Me as well*!
??? ??? ;)

I know I am!! :-\

Sorry to hear your news. It is a shame that Massoth no longer convert serial to parallel MTS equipment. So care needs to be exercised when purchasing older MTS equipment. By the way does anyone want any MTS mice?

Hopefully I might be able to get a parallel board, I got one last year for a failed one in a Serial handset.

I was lucky enough to purchase a board from Massoth last month which was how I discovered that they no longer update the serial MTS equipment. Peter Ting suggested that I should contact their Sales Department to see if they had any parallel boards available, they managed to find one.

So it looks like it is really 'end of life' for the MTS range..
Caveat Emptor for all buying S/H, and I suppose it will get harder and harder to keep it going??
End of an era.. :(

There is no problem with MTS as all new production is suitable for serial or parallel. The problem is with us cheapskates who buy secondhand and get something mis-sold.

If you look at the new 2014 LGB Catalogue you will see reference to the new 55028 decoder and in the text on Page 52 "These and other functions can be programmed with LGB55015 or the MTS PC decoder programming module 55045 or with all Marklin Central Stations" I believe that this decoder is NOT made by Massoth and I can only speculate that there may be a new, non Massoth, Central Station in the offing. Elsewhere in the Catalogue reference is made to the 55525 Popints decoder being backwards ompatible with MTS 1 to 3.

Hi,
By pressing F and 9 you can switch from parallel to Serial, then press F and 9 and you are back to parallel again. ;D
Your 55055 must be parallel as well for it to work correctly. :o

Hope this helps
Alan.
