Hi all,

I have LGB 55016 hand controllers with Central station etc, also the 55045 programming module.

I was looking at getting a 55015 hand controller to be able to (if rqd) run double headed trains, but do I need this ? or can I just get another 55016 as they are cheaper.

One other ting is are the 55015 easy to use ? .. power buttons vs knob controls ?

Any ideas please

thankyou steve

I have both 55015 and 55016 remotes. Both are easy to use.

However, I usually tend to use the Universal Remotes for changing points or route setting, and the Loco Remote with its analogue knob for driving trains.

It's a personal thing but I prefer a knob to push buttons for speed control.

I also have the 55060 MTS interface with which I have my track plan to control points. I can use it to drive locos, but again, I like to use the 55016.

You can operate a double headed train with a Universal Remote 55015 but it's quite complex to set up....

Your a gentleman sir,

That's what I thought about using a knob control, seems to give you more even control over the locos speed.

many thanks steve

Happy to help Steve.

The Universal Remote has more functionality, and that's what makes it more expensive IMO?

You can't operate points (via a decoder) with the 55016.

Dragon shows the Loco Remote at £100 and the Universal at £138....

Must admit generally I prefer a knob to buttons for speed control.

On the other hand, years ago I used to help operate an 009 layout which had n ECM Compspeed Rambler - a feedback controller with a little handheld box on a lead with 5 buttons - and actually I really liked it. The only problem I found was a tendency to try and press harder when you wanted something to stop quicker, which can't have done the buttons any favours!

Fortunately my NCE DCC system has both a scroll knob and increase/decrease buttons on the same throttle so I can use either. Setting up consists is simple too!

I have been in G scale for quite a few years!!, When Digital came along I first used LGB MTS systems which i found easy to use once you read the instructions, then I upgraded to Massoth which again was an excellent but expensive system,

I had a 3 year break from G scale, returning just recently, I was about to purchase LGB MTS system, when i was pointed in the direction a PIKO Digital I was a bit dubious, until I read up on the comments and discovering that the system is actually made by Massoth.

So for a little over £500 I purchased a complete system ( radio controlled)

Worth pointing out the PIKO Navigator has the capability to control 2 locos simultaneously ( ie one loco via the control knob the other via 2 push buttons) or it is poss to control 1 loco and change digital points simultaneously.

Not quite an answer to your OP but thought the info may be useful.
