I am interested to know if any one has purchased the LGB 20121 V100 Diesel loco?

I am also interested to know if there is any connection between that loco and Marklin Gauge 1 V 100 ref 55728

Looking at the pics on line of these 2 locos they both Have the same running number! V100 2027

Hi Steve,

There is a very comprehensive report on the 2 versions of the V100 in Issue 3/2015 of the Gartenbahn Profi magazine.

Regards

Martin

Apart from the windows falling out on day one I`ve had no problem with my v100

I have a 20121 V100 and one of my windows fell out on day one but apart from that it is a nice loco with reasonable sound and is smooth running straight out of the packet . Detail is a bit basic but still good considering the price.

The LGB at scale 1:27 is 88 mm longer than the Maerklin Spur I, which is 1:32. I don't know whether LGB have applied their "rubber ruler", apart from the 45mm gauge, which for that scale is obviously too narrow. (The Spur I version is no longer sold new.)

Tis odd that the LGB arm of Märklin chose to produce a new model when they presumably could have simply done another production run of the gauge 1 version.
I'm watching an LGB one on eBay.de - buy it now for £301.00 plus postage.

Tempting. :)

Apart from the control electronics there seems to ve very little crossover between the two. It sort of makes sense, as G scale seems to be aimed more at the (mostly) outdoor folks who accept the rubber ruler concept. Spur I is no longer marketed as outdoor and this seems to be aimed at more of a rivet-counter market.

Seems reasonable enough Peter.
I reckon the V 100 would make a good workhorse - taking the goods wagons back up the gradient to the shed storage sidings at the end of a running session.
Then again that's a really poor excuse cos I just fancy buying one ;)
