Acquired from eBay (I was the one and only bidder) this rather large box arrived yesterday. 1m X 0.7m X 0.3m. I was looking for an RhB Ge2/4 and there were several for sale, mostly from Germany, but this one caught my eye from a UK seller. New, collectors edition with passenger car and 3 trucks all with metal wheels for £525. What also surprised me was free postage. Needs a decoder for the loco but very pleased. Now all I need is some catenary.:D

It is not too difficult to chip - especially if it has a four pin motor block. Yours might even have a decoder direct setup. I was very tempted by this set when it first came out but couldn't justify the cost to myself.

The instructions for this set imply that there is a 10pin DCC interface (as it indicates an MTS III decoder is needed).

Really nice. This is a great set and it looks sharp in green. I have the recent brown one and it’s a more fun loco than I expected. Nice cars with metal wheels are always appreciated!

Dave, I bought this on ebay a few weeks ago as it seemed worth a punt to add DCC and sound to one of my analogue panto locos. Is it for a loco like yours? Nice model by the way.

Sadly Mike can't see the advert.

Must be because it's linked into my ebay account Jim. Description and photos below:

This unit was originally taken from an LGB RhB 205 locomotive and is believed to be the sound unit and the DCC decoder although I have no means of checking whether this is working.s-l1600.jpgs-l1600a.jpg

Just note the two power transistors need screwing down to a weight, or other form of heatsink.. This is an early-ish sound card, so may be serial for sound functions?

Thanks Mike,
It is for my type of loco, I guess it's from the MTZ sound version. It would replace the circuit board installed in mine which has a 10 pin interface. I'd be interested to give it a try. Please send me a PM if you are willing to unload it.

I'm pretty sure it is from a 20452 (or from the 29452 set) which was a brown Ge2/4 with factory fitted MZS decoder and sound. I guess a previous owner wanted to replace the decoder or maybe convert to battery and just took out all the gubbins.

Conversation will be started shortly Dave.

Finally got time to put up some catenary and install a decoder in the loco. The Massoth sound project is cool and if you crank up the volume you can almost hear the wires crackling. Short video of the loco with a couple of pieces of rolling stock from the set.

Not wishing to destroy a good deal, but that board belonged to a Double Power Bogied Loco, look at the two 4 pin wires and grey sockets coming out of the right of the Board.

Right. So what's that imply Jon. I've had too many other tasks to even look at this further or follow up on Dave's PM. I hoped I might be able to fit it in my PIKO green Krok.

Probably what it came from. Bearing in mind original thoughts that it may have come out of a 205 that would be a 1 Motored beast. So this should be good for you.
