BTW when I looked again at the Arkansas Traveller I saw that it was made to run on a pole road, which must have made it a very rare beast.
Your threshing machine is just like one I've seen preserved and working in France. They take it to the local town fairs along with a locomobile which is a portable boiler - not self moving, so it needs a tow to get around. Pictures show a similar machine, from northern France., which later gave a demonstration of log sawing. This one is a Merlin, which I think the other was, too. Power comes from a leather belt round the flywheel.
