It's coming

Well, it has been announced for some time, it was in the last catalog, and it's been discussed ad nauseaum on the bachmann site.

so, yes, it has been coming for some time, but again, when will it actually be in stock?

Wonder what the street price will be after the initial rush?

No entries on the major sellers yet...

Greg

It's only a dollar short of a grand! Is that price for a DCC model or just the plain ordinary analogue?

In the blurb says DCC and ready for sound with factory installed speakers thus Analogue as bought.

Without any evidence whatsoever I predict it will be a good seller as soon as the street price stabilises.
It will be a snip to install battery R/C and sound.
..........and, what else will be available?

Given the spec, which is pretty good, and the fact that it is only 1:22.5 (ish) which is not so good, then $575 seems in the right ballpark ;);)

In history the only hobby shops that sold Bachmann at full list were Ma & Pa stores who didn't have the purchasing power to take advantage of the myriad Dealer discounts Bachmann offer for quantity orders.

I know the Big Hauler/Annie 10 wheeler has its diehard fans and makes a great entry level product but I have to ask myself - Why this now ? Please hurl brick bats over here please Max

I agree Max, but it is a big seller, there's pull through for the Christmas trains, and it upgrades the loco to having a socket, adding remote control, multi-train operation, and sound easily is a new dimension that increases sales.

All good reasons.... we, as a group, are NOT the biggest market for this loco, we are train nuts, this loco is for normal people.

Absolutely agree Greg.

I can't wait to get my hands on one to prepare a plug together battery R/C kit with virtually no wiring to do.
It will use simple, cheap, 4.8 volt NiMh Rx packs wired in series by plugs and sockets.
All standard servo cables can easily handle the small amps this will require.
Plenty of room in that cavernous tender.

My personal opinion on this is;

In these times when disposable income is not very high which "Normal" (and what is normal anyway) person is going to part with US $500-600 of their hard earned on a toy train?

I told my GD's boyfriend that I paid US$400 for my 3 truck Shay back in the post GFC days, when America was having a fire sale (the Aust Dollar was buying $1.15 US) and his reply "Clucking Bell !!! that is dedication to your hobby" or words to that effect.

I echo Gavin Sowry's sentiments completely even with the price "discount", but then I am a frugal person (SWMBO uses the word Cheapskate).
