Is this loco something more than it is....I think the description tells all...

Now the Bachmann 'Annie' is a good workhorse loco but the brand new version (25th Anniversary as opposed to the 10th Anniversary model) with the completely metal gear box are retailing at £250 or so. The older 10th Anniversay models fetch about 100 to 120 if they are 'as brand new' but a £300 start or £420 buy now for one from a starter set.....pheweeee
'Digital micro-chip'....does the seller mean the little hissy analogue sound board that comes as standard?
MMMmmm I like them and have a few (which are being 'customised')...but maybe I might just let this one pass.....................

Maybe its because the numbers have been specially printed backwards

Lol. You picked up this listing as well. I thought to myself that the seller has to be taking the hiss.
Did you look at the sellers other listings?

VERY SWEET

It caught my eye - its a Christmas loco. They are nice but at that price! And, if you were not aware, you might think it was painted in an authentic livery! I think I paid £70 for mine from Twojags.

Mind you T could say to SWMBO that my purchases were inflation beaters - value increased 6-fold:rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf:

I had one ages ago. "Wonderland Express" set. I happened to be in the US when they were available at Sam's Club. The sets contained an "Anniversery" 4-6-0, A box-car, a gondola and a combine. All for $130, or £70. Also the one I had was identical except it had the full walschearts gear. This is a ludicrous asking price.

I paid less than £30 for mine at a time when it was$2 to the £1. The second one which is identical to the one on sale - but right way round!- cost just over $30. Some of the best value I have had in G Scale.
The one on sale IS the Christmas one , North Pole and Southern. I bought it to respray black but my wife and son both insisted that I could not do that so it has stayed in its bright red. I have to say that it is a superb paint job. Its only flaw is that it needs perfectly clean track or it 'stutters'.

I checked his other listings. They don't fit together with a steam loco. The few items I've posted on Ebay, that were not trains, did not do so well. They just didn't fit my profile as a train guy I suppose.

Interestingly, I have just found another Annie on eBay USA Site
The description is as follows, copy pasted:-

Brand new, removed from a starter set so there is no manufacturers box.

Bachmann G Scale White Pass Anniversary Edition G scale 4-6-0 Steam Locomotive & Tender.

This is not to be confused with the standard Bachmann 4-6-0 loco & tender. This truly is the UPGRADED ANNIVERSARY EDITION!!.

Nicknamed the "Annie" by Bachmann enthusiasts Bachmann offers this Special Anniversary Edition 4-6-0 Steam Locomotive with the following features: operating headlight, smoke, speed synchronized sound, state of the art drive mechanism, metal side rods, separate detail parts as well as separate piping and all metal handrails. This 4-6-0 is a locomotive that Mr. Baldwin & Company would be proud to call their own. This auction includes Bachmann's exclusive factory warranty.

Now, is it me, or is that description word for word identical to the item that we are discussing here?
