installing ESU Loksound 5XL in 2-truck bachman shay

Has anyone installed ESU lokound 5XL in the 2 truck Bachman shay? I am wondering if I should wire everything directly to the decoder or somehow he decoder can be wired to the PCB board ? I don't have the wiring diagram for the shay as it was a collection item

Ah thanks I attached the factory PCB to an aux output of the decoder to keep the flickering firebox and ash pan LEDS but the whole thing became such a huge mess with so many wires that the tender would not close so had to cutout the old circuit board. It seems the fire box and ash pan have red and yellow leds that are pulsed out of phase with something like 5v pulse , I tried to test it with my function generator but one of the LEDs blew up. So I gave up on it. Probably have to open it up and install some red LEDs and have it directly driven my decoder that has flicker function.

Does anyone know how to access the firebox ? This thing is ancient and not many videos online
