Good pictures - they show off the models well, though it sadly looks as if they just beefed up the ERTL push-along range when they made the tankers in G scale. The 6-wheeled coaches look good. Nice layout, too. Are those llamas waiting for Thomas to pass at the level crossing?

Certainly looks a great day, and excellent photos.

Shame the tank wagons are too small, it really shows.

The six wheelers look very smart indeed.

I also was very disappointed with the milk/petrol waggons. While primarily aimed at infants, the tankers were lacking the detail of the open troublesome trucks. I added side stayrods and will bite the bullet and repaint several as proper 'Oil' and 'TAR' waggons. I feel Bachmann did not have licencing rights to properly represent these tankers. The upcoming 'Oil' tanker is as lifeless as the milk and petrol variants.

I agree, it's a pity that Bachmann didn't just re-scale one of their OO 14 ton tankers as they appear to have done with the open wagons.

Nice pics Casey .

The recently released green carriages look amazing in the piano gloss type finish, very smart!! the tankers look a tad small to me since they were as tall as Percy in the TV series...

Great pix Casey!

I'm visiting Loughborough and the GCR on 16 Jul, with the Cambridge MRC, so I might get a chance to call in and say hullo....

hey they look great, my grand son who co ownes the misty mountain layouts would love them to run, maybe i will have to look into these to run on his section. maybe better than his playmobile engine.

It's only after WW2 that tankers started to get fatter - if you model a little earlier a small tank body would be quite usual - and it might also have heavy wooden beams at each end to hold it in place. I have a drawing from an old Model Rly Constructor which shows a tanker built by Pickering's in 1894; the barrel of the tank is 5ft 4ins diameter, 15 ft long (over the domed ends). The wagon was still in service in 1962. You can see that it's much smaller than a more modern one standing next to it.

Sorry about the quality; the original was very grey.

We dropped in on Sunday afternoon, just in time to get some tea and cake from Ellis' cafe, I can especially recommend the home made crumble cake...I had the last piece.
Noticed that the main station building has been removed from the central platform, enabling the bay to be extended to become the running line, avoiding the R3 reverse curve over a point, a potential source of problems with long rigid wheelbase rolling stock ( Annie & Claribelle ) and maybe the 6 wheeled 'Emily' coaches.
One of my friends has fitted LGB type swivelling wheelsets to A&C to enable better tracking over uneven track.
